Padres Suffer 4-3 Setback
|
San Diego right fielder Brian Patrick had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Patrick was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as Atlanta beat the Padres, 4-3. T.J. Grady was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Bill Hanley recorded the save for Atlanta, his 1st of the season.
The Braves got a big at-bat from second baseman Kenny Akers. For the game, Akers was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Atlanta a 4-2 lead.
Akers described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
The loss drops San Diego to 5-3.
