Machado Shows Off, Hits for Cycle
Gerardo Machado saw a spectacular performance go to waste in his club's 10-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.

The Cincinnati Reds third baseman had 3 RBI and went 4-for-5, including hitting for the cycle, but his club went down to defeat anyway.

"Everything they threw him, he was swatting around the field," said the Cincinnati skipper BJ Gorman. "It really was a special performance for Gerardo. It's a shame we couldn't win the game, too."

Gerardo Machado grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Juan Castillo in the 9th.

This season, Machado is batting .353 with 12 RBIs, 7 runs scored and 3 home runs.
