The Stockton Ports started the 2109 season win an impressive 7-2 win against the Modesto Nuts at Banner Island Ballpark. Juan Franco led the way for Stockton. Eric Hartley claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0.

Bill Lodge had a big 2-run double for the Ports in the bottom of the third inning. With Stockton leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Dan Poff and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Ports ahead, 4-0.

Lodge called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
