The home crowd had a good time watching the Lancaster JetHawks and Bakersfield Blaze get after it.

Alex Raiz was a major factor in the 9-3 Bakersfield win over Lancaster. The Blaze shortstop was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Tommy Houston, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 2.

The JetHawks had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Blaze going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old catcher Eric Borer came to the plate. Borer hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 changeup from Lancaster hurler Jose Diaz. It was Borer's 1st home run of the year.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Raiz told the Bakersfield Daily News.

The loss drops Lancaster to 0-2.
