66ers Suffer 12-7 Loss to Rancho Cucamonga
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes topped the Inland Empire 66ers, 12-7, with catcher Josh Buffington playing a big role. Buffington was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Quakes in the win. The winner was Russ Focht, who threw 90 pitches over 5.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs on 7 hits. With the win, Rancho Cucamonga goes to 3-0.

Jeremy Strickland had a big bases-clearing triple for the Quakes in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Rancho Cucamonga leading 9-7 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Jim Dailey and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Quakes ahead, 12-7.

Buffington said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
