The Stockton Ports withstood an impressive performance by Modesto third baseman Aaron Cruse to defeat the Nuts, 7-4, at Banner Island Ballpark. Cruse went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. Rafael Acevedo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Monte Sanz was credited with the save for Stockton, his 1st of the season.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Stockton took the lead on a 2-run single by Angel Diaz. At the time, the Ports were trailing 3-2, but Diaz's hit with two outs against Modesto pitcher Jan Stead put them in front, 4-3.

"A great game, a great day," said Diaz about the win. "I can't complain."

The win gives Stockton a record of 4-0.
