Blaze Lose to Mavericks in Walk-Off
The High Desert Mavericks topped the Bakersfield Blaze, 4-3, in California League action at Stater Bros. Stadium. The standout performance belonged to High Desert pitcher and Fernandina Beach, Florida, native Josh Alonzo. Jose Valencia snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season. The loss puts Bakersfield at 4-4.

Pedro de la Cruz was the walk-off hero for High Desert. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mavericks second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
