Stockton had no answer for Bakersfield Blaze starter Ken Ralston, who flummoxed Ports hitters as the Blaze cruised to victory, 6-1. Ralston got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Antonio Solorio picked up the save, his 2nd.

The Ports had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Blaze going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Ivan Suarez came to the plate. Suarez hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Stockton hurler Tyler Meyer. It was Suarez's 2nd home run of the year.

"We'll pocket this win," said Suarez, "and then go after another."
