On Road, Rancho Cucamonga Beats Inland Empire, 7-4
|
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Inland Empire 66ers, 7-4, at San Manuel Stadium. Franklin Flores was a standout performer for Rancho Cucamonga. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Nelson Escobedo, the winner, improved to 2-0. He held Inland Empire to 4 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. Chris Thompson closed the door for Rancho Cucamonga, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Rancho Cucamonga used a well-timed hit by Alex Parra to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Quakes ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 6 at-bats, it was important.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Inland Empire manager Jonathan Vasquez.
Inland Empire now has a record of 3-7.
