Bakersfield starter Edwin Covarrubias put the Visalia offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Blaze to a 6-1 win. The loss has the Rawhide at 2-11.

The fans who came to support the Blaze were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark.

"I managed to get ahead of guys and keep them at bay," said Covarrubias.
