Nuts Stay Hot With 9-4 Win
|
The Modesto Nuts defeated the Bakersfield Blaze by the score of 9-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to designated hitter Dario Nunez. Nunez was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Nuts on the day. James Parsons snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Ricardo Cruz suffered the loss. Eric Fox picked up the save, his 3rd.
Modesto needed the clutch hitting of Franklin Perez to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nuts on top, 6-4. For the game, Perez had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Nuts manager Josh Weddington. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
Modesto, now 12-4, is playing great baseball to start the year.
