The San Jose Giants used the hitting of second baseman Chris Slemp to subdue the Bakersfield Blaze, 6-2. For the game, Slemp was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Jose has a mark of 11-6 after the win.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Giants grabbed the lead when Manny Moreno rapped a two-out single. San Jose was trailing 2-1, when Moreno hit a 2-run single off Shawn Zahn to put his team in front, 3-2.
