Bakersfield Beats Modesto, 6-1

Nazih bin Burhan, who leads the CAL in quality starts with 4, had a strong outing for the Bakersfield Blaze against the Modesto Nuts at John Thurman Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-1 win. The winner was bin Burhan. He threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Brock Ott. With the win, Bakersfield boosts its record to 8-12.
Bakersfield used a well-timed hit by Nick Garcia to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Blaze ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"We didn't play well enough to win," Modesto skipper Steve Kamps said.
