Bowes Lifts Ports to 10-9 Triumph
The Stockton Ports beat the San Jose Giants, 10-9, in part because of second baseman Sam Bowes. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The winner in relief was Pedro Sambrano. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. San Jose, with the loss, is still a stout 17-7.

The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Bowes delivered big-time for Stockton, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Jason Cranford. The game-changing hit put the Ports on top, 10-9.

"We got the victory," said Bowes. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
