Nuts Come Back Late to Top Ports, 9-6
The Modesto Nuts weathered a fine game by Stockton center fielder Brian Troop to upend the Ports, 9-6, at Banner Island Ballpark. Troop went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Ben Brand got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. Modesto sits at 13-11.

Victor Rodriguez came through with a big-time hit for Modesto. The catcher smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 9-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
