Rulo, Mavericks Too Much for Nuts
The home crowd had a good time watching the Modesto Nuts and High Desert Mavericks get after it.

The exploits of left fielder Seth Rulo helped the High Desert Mavericks defeat the Modesto Nuts, 6-1. Rulo was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Picking up the win was Guillermo Abeyta. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The left--hander struck out 4 and walked 3.

Rulo contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for High Desert in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Rulo took a curveball from Miles Plunkett and stroked the double to left. His 7th double of the season allowed the Mavericks to leap in front, 2-1.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rulo said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

With the win, High Desert boosts its record to 17-10.
