San Jose pitcher Jason Kelly had a large part in his team beating the Stockton Ports, 7-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Kelly, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. Adam Murphy collected save number 4.

Second Baseman Mike Mikel made an impact for San Jose, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Jared O'Brien in the top of the fourth. For the contest, Mikel went 1-4 with a double.

In postgame remarks, Mikel said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
