Dave Bigby, who is tied for 5th in the CAL in wins with 3, imposed his will on the Ports from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 San Jose triumph. The winning pitcher was Bigby, now 3-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 8. The win lifts San Jose to a record of 12-16.

Juan Castro had a direct impact on the outcome. Castro contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put San Jose up, 2-0.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Bigby.
