The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes used a stellar performance from pitcher David Merchan to throttle the Inland Empire offense en route to an extra-inning, 5-2 win at San Manuel Stadium. Inland Empire, at 7-23, has lost 4 straight.

Miguel Pozo came through with a big-time hit for Rancho Cucamonga. The first baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I made a lot of good pitches," said Merchan. "I was right where I wanted to be."
