Matthew Hainsworth pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Stockton Ports, despite Hainsworth's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the San Jose Giants at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Nate Parker nailed down the save. The win makes San Jose 17-14.

Jon Martinez had a big run-scoring double for the Giants in the bottom of the third inning. With San Jose leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from Matthew Hainsworth and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 2-0.

Martinez called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
