The Lancaster JetHawks defeated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 1-0, in California League action at LoanMart Field. Lancaster pitcher Manny Storm had a standout performance. Storm, now 5-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Lancaster is third in the South Division with a record of 20-12.
Lancaster used a well-timed hit by Josh Whittington to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the JetHawks ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We leaned on our pitching tonight," Whittington said.
