Kevin Spence had a good game, but he could not keep the Bakersfield Blaze from falling, 9-5, to the High Desert Mavericks at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. The Bakersfield third baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once in the loss. The third-place Mavericks raised their record to 19-15.

High Desert relied on the bat of Danny Luna to get the win. The right fielder ripped a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 5-4. For the game, Luna had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Luna.
