JetHawks Defeated, 8-5, After High Desert Rallies
The High Desert Mavericks defeated the Lancaster JetHawks, 8-5, at The Hanger. Ethan Cullins, the 13th overall pick in the 2106 draft, was a standout performer for High Desert. His 4 hits included 1 single and 3 doubles -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. Reliever Aaron Lake picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Omar de la Cerda took the loss. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher David Nanney.

Danny Gonzales delivered a big hit for High Desert. The designated hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"It never gets old," said Cullins. "Winning, that is."

High Desert, at 16-19, sits in third place in the South Division.
