Storm Lose By a Run at Bakersfield
|
The Bakersfield Blaze and Lake Elsinore Storm played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Bakersfield Blaze earned a close win over the Lake Elsinore Storm, thanks in part to Tommy Houston. The Bakersfield right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL with a 13.3 K/9 rate, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Bakersfield has a record of 16-19, placing them 4th in the North Division.
Had Eric Borer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Borer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blaze.
"Tommy was really on it," said Bakersfield manager Jerry Zuniga. "He's got a feel for playing with the hitter front-to-back, side-to-side."
