Rancho Cucamonga Beats Inland Empire, 5-1
|
Nelson Escobedo, who is tied for 7th in the CAL in wins with 4, was locked in. The right-hander led the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to a 5-1 win against the Inland Empire 66ers at San Manuel Stadium. Chris Thompson closed out the game, earning his 14th save. Rancho Cucamonga now sits at 26-14, while Inland Empire falls to 15-25.
One pivotal at-bat came in the bottom of the sixth with no one out. With a runner on 1st and the 66ers trailing 3-1, Nelson Escobedo needed to make a quality pitch. He threw a 0-2 changeup to retire Francisco Candelaria, who struck out.
