San Jose 29-11 After Beating Blaze
|
The first-place San Jose Giants picked up another win.
The San Jose Giants topped the Bakersfield Blaze, 10-1, in California League action at San Jose Municipal Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Jose pitcher Mike Kelley. Kelley picked up the win for San Jose, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2.
Lee Carter had a big 2-run triple for the Giants in the bottom of the first inning. With San Jose leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a circle change from Tommy Houston, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL with a 13.4 K/9 rate, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 4-1.
Bakersfield manager Jerry Zuniga said: "You try to find positives. We have to regroup and put this game behind us."
The Giants improved their record to 29-11 with the win over Bakersfield.
