Blaze Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
In a low-scoring tilt between the Bakersfield Blaze and the High Desert Mavericks, Jake Paquin, the 2nd overall pick in the 2109 draft, was the difference-maker. The Bakersfield right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Paquin got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Bakersfield is now 23-23, while High Desert is 25-21.

Bill Cruz drove in one run for Bakersfield. The 24-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Danny Padilla. It was his 9th RBI of the season.

"We didn't score," said losing manager Danny Alonso. "That was the problem."
