Cardinals Nipped, 2-1, by Arizona
|
In a tight contest between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals, Josh Vaughn was the determining factor. The Arizona right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. The loss lowers the St. Louis record to 7-4.
The decisive blow was delivered by Endy De Jesus Maida in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Juan Castillo to win the game for Arizona. The home crowd went nuts.
"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Maida said.
