Modesto and San Jose got after it at John Thurman Field.

The Modesto Nuts picked up a win at John Thurman Field, taking down the San Jose Giants, 5-0. Starting pitcher Dave Myers was a big reason why. Myers went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-3.

Evan Hood dealt the Giants a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Modesto leading 1-0, Hood, who is tied for 6th in the CAL in stolen bases with 8, hit a 2-0 sinker for a run-scoring single.

"Piling up wins will eventually take us to the promised land," said Hood.

Modesto is now 29-19, San Jose 28-20.
