Modesto Beats Rancho Cucamonga, 8-1
|
The Modesto Nuts got a strong performance from pitcher Jay Kelleher. Jaws stymied the Rancho Cucamonga offense en route to a solid, 8-1 win at John Thurman Field. The winning pitcher was Kelleher, now 2-1. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6. Modesto sits in second place in the North Division at 28-21.
In the bottom of the first inning, first baseman David Hall had a grand slam home run for Modesto. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Nuts on top, 4-0.
"I had everything working," said Kelleher.
