The Visalia Rawhide claimed a close win over the Inland Empire 66ers, due in large part to Dave Hoffman. The Visalia right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-0 win. In 7 innings, Hoffman surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The last-place Rawhide now have a record of 12-37.

The 66ers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Rawhide going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old shortstop Jose Figueroa came to the plate. Figueroa hit a run-scoring double on a 0-2 splitter from Inland Empire hurler Andres Pinedo. It was Figueroa's 12th double of the year.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Hoffman told the Visalia Chronicle.
