Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Stockton Ports and High Desert Mavericks.

Cory Brunner, who is tied for 6th in the CAL in strikeouts with 70, was locked in. The right-hander led the Stockton Ports to a 5-4 win against the High Desert Mavericks at Stater Bros. Stadium. Ricky Vazquez was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was David Nanney.

Stockton used the timely hitting of Adam Pugh to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ports on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I thought we competed really well," said Ports manager Jon Rosales. "I thought the energy was really good."

Stockton is now 24-26, High Desert 25-25.
