Giants Squelch Blaze Offense in Shutout Win
The San Jose Giants downed the Bakersfield Blaze, 3-0, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. San Jose pitcher Jason Kelly definitely brought his A-game. In 5.2 innings, Kelly surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Adam Murphy picked up his 11th save of the season.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Giants had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Juan Castro hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Chris Camacho and made the score 2-0, Giants. Castro went 1-4.

Afterward, Giants manager Brian Johnson said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
