Powell Goes Deep Twice in 6-5 66ers Win
|
The Inland Empire 66ers downed the Lancaster JetHawks, 6-5, at The Hanger. The 66ers were led by Jimmy Powell. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Inland Empire starter Mario Cruz was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-5. Jeremiah Heaggans got the save, the 1st for him this season.
With Inland Empire leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Powell hit a fastball from Rob Blanton for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the 66ers ahead, 4-0.
"I know we have our doubters," said Lancaster manager Francis Prettitore. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
Despite the win, the 66ers have a lousy 18-36 record.
