66ers Lose 6-2 Decision to Rancho Cucamonga
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes picked up a win at LoanMart Field, downing the Inland Empire 66ers, 6-2. On the mound for Rancho Cucamonga was right-hander Nelson Escobedo, who played a pivotal role in the win. Chris Thompson picked up his 20th save of the season. The Quakes saw their win-loss record go to 35-20. At the same time, the 66ers fell to 19-36.

Danny Ponzio had a big 2-run home run for the Quakes in the bottom of the second inning. With Rancho Cucamonga trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Melvin Aguayo and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Quakes on top, 2-1.

"Whenever I help the team," said Ponzio, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
