JetHawks Pull Out Late Win, 4-3
|
Inland Empire got a terrific performance from pitcher Hector Figueroa, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lancaster JetHawks. Lancaster won the San Manuel Stadium contest, 4-3. Figueroa threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. John Hancox claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 3-1. Jonathan Oyarzabal picked up the save, his 5th.
Lancaster used the timely hitting of Troy Tassone to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the JetHawks on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Tassone told the Lancaster Today.
The setback makes Inland Empire 21-34.
