Stockton Ports starter Pedro Sambrano pitched effectively against the Modesto Nuts at Banner Island Ballpark. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 5-4 win. The winning pitcher was Sambrano, now 2-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Javy Pineda picked up the save, his 5th.

Shortstop Sergio Celis made an impact for Stockton, when he swatted a 2-run triple off Paul Covey in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Celis was 2-4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"That was a really good outing by Pedro," said Stockton manager Mark Zoss.
