The Modesto Nuts defeated the Visalia Rawhide, 4-2, in California League action at John Thurman Field. Modesto pitcher Steve Harris had a standout performance. Ryan Brooks earned the save for Modesto, his 3rd. Modesto, now 34-23, holds down second place in the North Division.

Mario Valdez had a big run-scoring triple for the Nuts in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Modesto leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from fireballing 6' 6" right-hander Ethan Moorer and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nuts ahead, 4-2.

"Steve was throwing free and easy," said Modesto manager Steve Kamps.
