Spirited fans greeted the High Desert Mavericks for their clash with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes topped the High Desert Mavericks, 12-6, at Stater Bros. Stadium. Rancho Cucamonga designated hitter Victor de la Rosa was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Rancho Cucamonga improves to 44-19 with the win. They lead their division by 8 games.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher John Griffin came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing High Desert pitcher Rick Watson, he hit a first pitch splitter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Rancho Cucamonga on top, 8-6.
