The Lake Elsinore Storm topped the High Desert Mavericks, 6-3, in California League action at Stater Bros. Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Lake Elsinore pitcher Paul Dunford. Mike Yarrison, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Lake Elsinore, now 26-37, holds down 4th place in the South Division.

It could have been a different outcome for Lake Elsinore, had it not been for Marty Torres, the 23-year old left fielder . Torres contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Lake Elsinore up, 5-0.

Despite the victory, Torres was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
