Ports Grind Out 2-1 Win
The Stockton Ports eked out a 2-1 win versus the San Jose Giants at Banner Island Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Pedro Sambrano. He was terrific. Ernie Stokes got the save, the 2nd for him this season. With the victory, the Ports record stands at 29-36.

Steve Morgan was 1 for 2 for Stockton. The 24-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ethan Sanders. It was his 31st RBI of the season.

"I was a little disappointed," said San Jose manager Elwiin de Lange. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
