Bennett on a Tear, Hits for Cycle
Getting 4 hits is a good day by any measure, but when those include a single, double, triple and a home run -- that's something special. Brian Bennett's day was a special one.

The right fielder hit for the cycle to spark the 8-1 High Desert Mavericks victory over the Bakersfield Blaze at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. High Desert manager Danny Alonso said he thought the whole lineup looked good in batting practice, but had not been expecting anything extraordinary from Bennett in particular.

"Brian caught me by surprise today," the skipper said. "He looked good before the game, but man, he looked unbelievable during it."

For the day, Bennett finished with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.

Brian Bennett doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Manny Sanchez in the 9th.
