The Giants grabbed a win, 3-1, at San Jose Municipal Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Lake Elsinore pitcher Andy Willis. Willis went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Mike Miller was credited with the save for San Jose, his 2nd of the season. San Jose goes to 42-24, Lake Elsinore to 29-37.

Campbell Ball, who is tied for 8th in the CAL in doubles with 17, aided the San Jose cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman went 1-2 with a double and a walk.

"This was a tough loss," said Lake Elsinore manager Marvin Jimenez. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
