Mavericks Trip Blaze, 8-6, in Extra Innings
The High Desert Mavericks got a hard-earned win over the Bakersfield Blaze, 8-6, in 13 innings. Kyle Perry provided some offensive muscle for High Desert. He went 5 for 7 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher Marcos Luna in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Mike England took the loss. Josh Young recorded the save, his 5th.

Bill Medina came through with a big-time hit for High Desert. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to give his team the lead, 8-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Medina.

With the win, the Mavericks improved to 29-39.
