In a tension-filled contest between the Modesto Nuts and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, pitcher Butch Fetterman was superb. The Modesto left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the CAL in innings pitched with 92.0, spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. The second-place Nuts lifted their record to 39-31.

Fetterman earned the win, going 7.2 strong innings for Modesto. The left-hander allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 9. Rancho Cucamonga hitters had little success against him.

"Butch has got a slow heartbeat," said Modesto manager Steve Kamps. "He doesn't panic or anything."
