Reds Beaten By Padres, 7-4
|
San Diego and Cincinnati took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The San Diego Padres downed the Cincinnati Reds, 7-4, the largest share of the credit belonging to second baseman Ron Jakob. On the day, Jakob went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Padres. San Diego reliever Ricky Marquez picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Bryan Brown was tagged with the loss. Earning his 1st save for San Diego was Tony Navarro.
San Diego used a clutch at-bat from Gustavo Barron to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Padres ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Said San Diego manager Tim Lentz: "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
The loss makes Cincinnati 7-4.
