Cardinals Hand New York 5-2 Loss
|
The umbrellas came out during the St. Louis-New York contest at Citi Field.
St. Louis pitcher Andy Bourdeau had a large part in his team beating the New York Mets, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Bourdeau, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Benny Morgan picked up the save, his 2nd.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Chad Gutshall had a game-changing hit. The Cardinals first baseman slammed a 2-run single off Chris Tresidder, making the score 4-1, St. Louis.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said New York manager Matt Moore.
The victory makes St. Louis 4-7.
