Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Modesto Nuts and Lake Elsinore Storm.

The Modesto Nuts got a marvelous performance from pitcher Wayne Morales. The right-hander kept the Lake Elsinore offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-2 Modesto victory at Lake Elsinore Diamond. With the win, Modesto pushed its record to 40-33.

Modesto used the hitting of Danny Venegas to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Nuts on top, 2-1. For the game, Venegas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Morales.
