7-5 Modesto Loss Tarnishes Paniagua's Fine Effort
Modesto got a terrific game from designated hitter Johnny Paniagua. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Rancho Cucamonga, 7-5. Paniagua was 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Rancho Cucamonga reliever Tyler Cargle was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was James Parsons. At 41-34, Rancho Cucamonga is in second place in the South Division.

Rancho Cucamonga used a timely hit from Jose Cuadrado to get the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Quakes ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Cuadrado told the Rancho Cucamonga Daily News.
