Quakes Come Back Late, Nip Storm
|
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes overcame a good performance by Lake Elsinore shortstop Melvin Fraire to knock off Lake Elsinore, 5-4, at Lake Elsinore Diamond. Fraire was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Dennis Emmons earned the save for Rancho Cucamonga, his 11th of the year. The first-place Quakes are 53-22.
The result might have been different for Rancho Cucamonga, had it not been for Glenn Pelletier, the 24-year old catcher . Pelletier stroked a run-scoring ground out in the top of the eighth inning to put Rancho Cucamonga up, 5-4. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Feels good to get the job done," Pelletier said after the game.
