The Stockton Ports had to overcome a big game from Bakersfield designated hitter Robert Olague to leave Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 6-3. Olague went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Troy Whitson earned the win to go to 7-1. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 8.2 innings of work. A.J. Wayne was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 19 save opportunities.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Marco Ramirez? The Stockton third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Ports on top, 4-1. For the game, Ramirez had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
Ramirez told a Stockton Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
