Saldivar goes 3-for-4, Leads Giants to Win
The San Jose Giants powered past the Bakersfield Blaze, 14-4, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Manny Saldivar provided some of the pop. Sarge was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. San Jose reliever Matt Sheffer picked up the win. Joe Durnin took the loss for Bakersfield. The losses continue to mount for Bakersfield, which has now dropped 8 in a row.

Frank Vargas went 1-5 with a double for San Jose. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Chris Repetto. It was his 26th RBI of the season.

"We're in a funk right now," said Bakersfield skipper Jerry Zuniga.
