Bakersfield pitcher Ken Ralston had a large part in his team subduing the Visalia Rawhide, 6-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Ralston. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Luis Figueroa. Mike England collected save number 10.

The Blaze got a big hit from left fielder Dave Stanton. Facing Visalia pitcher Luis Figueroa in the bottom of the sixth, Stanton pounded a solo home run to center. His 5th home run of the season put the Blaze ahead, 3-1.

"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Ralston told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."

The setback makes Visalia 34-53.
