Rawhide Pull Off Thrilling 2-1 Win in Extras
|
The Rawhide faced a stiff challenge from Bakersfield pitcher Phil Starr, but persevered to claim a win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. Starr went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Ricky Maldonado, credited with the win, is now 6-7. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. The Rawhide, at 50-37, have now won 5 straight.
The most important at-bat for Visalia came in the top of the tenth inning, when left fielder Ove Linhart stroked a 2-2 splitter to center for a run-scoring single, putting Visalia up, 2-1.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Visalia skipper Colton Burns. "I can't complain."
